The Connection Between Consistency and Longevity
Consistency and longevity. This is the long game and practice of the practice. No matter where you find yourself, lean into your consistent healthy practices. Even if you follow the 80/20 rule, the 80% consistency wins for the long game.
The 80/20 rule suggests that making healthy food choices 80% of the time and allowing for indulgences or less healthy choices 20% of the time can contribute to a balanced and sustainable approach to well being.
These are my tenants.
What you Eat
It starts with food. If you don’t consistently eat to your genetic blueprint, you will age faster. You can even follow this on vacation with variations from the norm, as long as you make delicious choices.
What You Drink
Hydration: We can’t move out the trash as easily if we are not properly hydrated. Our liver, kidneys, lymph and skin have to work that much harder.
What You Do
Movement: Movement is important for the lymph, which is our debris mover. Movement keeps our joints supple. It oxygenates our cells.
Strength training: It is key for maintaining muscle and bone mass. Toxins are held in our fatty tissue, so the more muscle we build, we crowd out that fatty tissue.
Who You Interact With
Community: Surround yourself with "like-frequency" beings. Attitude is contagious. So if you are around negative people, you too soon will construct negative thoughts. And the opposite is true – so opt for the optimists and happy humans to hang out with.
How You Recover
Sleep and rest: Transparently, this is a challenge for me… and I am learning to consistently create bedtime routines that better serve me. Lighting candles. Sprinkling myself with rose water or taking a detoxifying bath.
How You React
The power in the pause: There is so much power in a strategic pause. When a crunchy issue arises, don’t react. Pause and let the emotions move through before taking action. You will have a better outcome for your nervous system.
How You Live
Love your life: Even those moments that are rigorous. Lay grace on the situation and your heart.
