Drink Today: Pomegranate Sage Kombucha Punch
Paula Gallagher on
Everyone loves a festive beverage during the holidays and this one is perfect for all. Pomegranate Sage Kombucha Punch is a non-alcoholic take on fruit punch that is bright and fresh-tasting. Not only does it look pretty and taste great, it also is packed with nutritional goodness.
Kombucha is a delicious and energizing fermented tea with a tangy, sweet flavor and a touch of fizziness that makes it perfect for this mocktail. Full of live beneficial bacteria, yeasts, and active enzymes, kombucha brings the body into balance. It is also is packed with B vitamins, antioxidants, polyphenols, and other fermentation byproducts, thereby supporting liver detoxification and improving digestion. You can make kombucha, or it is now easily found in most grocery stores.
Pomegranates are rich in vitamin C and potassium. They are also loaded with potent antioxidants such as soluble polyphenols, tannins and anthocyanins that help prevent and repair the cellular damage of disease-causing free radicals.
If you are serving this in a pitcher or a punch bowl, place a bowl of ice beside it so people can add to their drink, as needed. You can also place some thinly sliced lemon or lime circles in the punch bowl for a festive touch!
Pomegranate Sage Kombucha Punch
• 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced
• 6 sage leaves, plus extra for garnish
• 1 cup 100% pomegranate juice
• 48 oz ginger-flavored kombucha
• Pomegranate seeds for garnish
• Thinly sliced lemon or lime (optional)
In a large pitcher, muddle together fresh ginger and sage leaves. Add pomegranate juice and kombucha and gently stir to combine. You can pour the mixture into a large punch bowl or leave it in a large pitcher, or you can divide it among 8 ice-filled glasses. You can garnish with extra sage leaves and a few pomegranate seeds.
