Pyrrole Analysis

Pyrrole Analysis
Pyrrole disorder, or pyroluria, is a common stress disorder in children and adults that is caused by a genetic abnormality in biochemistry where the body creates too many pyrrole molecules. Pyrroles are byproducts of hemoglobin synthesis, have little or no function in the body, and are excreted in the urine. However, because pyrroles have a strong affinity for binding to vitamin B6 and zinc, excessive amounts of pyrrole molecules can cause a dramatic deficiency of these nutrients and increase oxidative stress. This of course can have a profound impact on one’s mental and physical well-being.
Pyroluria is frequently identified in behavior disorders, autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, ADD, depression, bipolar disorders, assaultive/aggressive/violent behavior, schizophrenia and other mental and emotional conditions. Pyroluria can create poor tolerance of physical and emotional stress, poor anger control, emotional mood swings, depression, anxiety, poor short-term memory, frequent infections, inability to tan, poor dream recall, abnormal fat distribution, sensitivity to light and sound and tactile sensitivities.
Measuring pyrrole levels in the urine is a non-invasive way to identify pyrrole disorder. If pyrrole levels are elevated, a customized nutrient protocol can be created to correct imbalances and address oxidative stress. Retesting pyrrole levels in approximately 2-3 months after starting a nutrient protocol can be helpful to monitor progress. This test is also included in our Brain Chemistry Panel.
Test Type:
Urine Collection - A test kit will be mailed to you along with detailed collection instructions from our lab partner, DHA Laboratory.
Results:
Results for this test can take 3-5 business days. DHA Laboratory will email your results to you. We strongly recommend that for this test, you consult with a practitioner that has specific knowledge of pyrrole disorder and advanced nutrient therapy. For a detailed interpretation of your results as well as customized recommendations, please schedule a consultation with a Village Green nutritionist.
