Found in all living cells, SAMe is a metabolite of methionine (an essential amino acid). SAMe is a chiral molecule consisting of two forms: (S,S) SAMe and (R,S) SAMe. The biologically active form is the (S,S) structure, while the (R,S) structure is biologically inactive.
Jarrow Formulas SAMe is made naturally by microbiological fermentation and processed without chemical solvents to preserve 68-80% (S,S) SAMe.

SAMe methylation reactions are involved in the synthesis of
phosphatidylcholine, a substantial constituent of grey matter within the
brain and cellular membranes. It has also been proposed to be involved
in the formation or metabolism of neurotransmitters, which helps to
support a balanced mood.
Joint Health
SAMe supports the production of healthy connective tissue through
transsulfuration. In this transsulfuration process, critical components
of connective tissue known as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), including
glucosamine and chondroitin, are sulfated by SAMe metabolites to
yield sulfated GAGs, such as glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin
sulfate, the building blocks of cartilage.
Liver Function
SAMe supports the synthesis of glutathione (GSH), which is
critical for antioxidant defenses and liver functions including phase
II detoxification.
SUGGESTED USE
Adults take 1 tablet once a day on an empty stomach or as directed by your qualified healthcare professional.

Effective product
I badly hyperextended my left thumb last Summer. I iced it down and did all the right things to keep from aggravating it but it the joint continued swelling and stiffening up. I was close to heading to the emergency room when my friend Colena gave me a bottle of this to use about 12 hours after the injury. In an hour the swelling was already going down and the pain was decreasing. The attendant bruising was gone in less than 10 days. My thumb healed well. I have since sprained a foot and used it on that with equally good results.

Amazing, I use it as a winter face cream
Great product! I use it on my face as a night moisturizer when it's cold outside. It absorbs really well and provides a nice understated glow. I strongly suggest using a small scoop to get it out of the tin, so you don't contaminate it. A little goes a long way. Also, I have a super sensitive skin that breaks out from everything and I don't break out from this. Will definitely buy again.

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is the intermediate metabolite produced when the body initiates the process of converting the essential amino acid L-tryptophan to serotonin. Serotonin levels in the body are associated with the regulation of sleep, mood, aggression, appetite, temperature, sexual behavior, and pain sensation.*
Supplementing with 5-HTP to facilitate serotonin production is preferable to supplementing with L-tryptophan because, unlike L-tryptophan, 5-HTP cannot be shunted into niacin or protein production.* Supplementation with 5-HTP bypasses the conversion of L-tryptophan into 5-HTP by the enzyme tryptophan hydroxylase, the rate-limiting step in the synthesis of serotonin and a step that can be inhibited by a number of factors, including stress, insulin resistance, increasing age, and deficiencies of vitamin C, folate, and iron.
