3 Healthy Fast Food Recipes in Less Than 10 Minutes
I know I could have made something quicker at home, if we had gone straight there. Not only would it have saved time, it would also have saved money, and it definitely would have been healthier.
So, next time you are considering running to grab some “fast” food, think of what you might have on-hand at home that you could have in about 5 to 10 minutes.
3 Quick & Healthy At-Home Meals
AB and H with WG
(Almond Butter and Honey with Wheat Germ)
Prep time: 5 minutes
A twist on the classic peanut butter and jelly: almond butter and honey with wheat germ.
- 2 Tbsp almond butter
- 1 to 2 tsp local honey
- 1 Tbsp wheat germ
Blend until creamy and spread over multigrain bread or toast. This yummy alternative is loaded with calcium, iron, vitamin E and fiber.
Shake It Up
Prep time: 5 minutes
- 1 serving whey protein
- 250 ml almond milk, or your favorite beverage
- 1 Tbsp hemp oil
- Handful of favorite berries
Put everything in a blender and give it a whir. Whey protein aids in stabilizing blood sugar and the hemp oil has essential fatty acids that are important for good immune health and help with proper fat metabolism.
Yogurt Delight
Prep Time: 5 minutes
- 1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
- 1 Tbsp hemp seeds
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup of your favorite granola
Another quick alternative that will give you energy, fiber and bone-building calcium.
These three alternatives are easy to make, tasty and will make you feel better through the day than the sodium-packed foods available at those drive-thrus. Next time you are tempted to run through a drive-thru, know that your next meal could be less that 10 minutes away. Now that's fast food.
