What is SpectraCell Laboratories?

SpectraCell Laboratories is a leading clinical testing company that offers a variety of specialized, functional lab tests. Their innovative testing assesses a spectrum of risk factors and biomarkers, providing you with important information regarding your nutritional status, cardiovascular health, inflammation, and genetic predisposition.

What tests are offered?

NUTRITIONAL

  • Micronutrient Test - Micronutrient deficiencies adversely affect health by setting the stage for chronic disease and compromised immune health. Determining your unique micronutrient status allows for the creation of a targeted supplement plan designed to specifically address your deficiencies. This test measures the function of 31 nutritional components (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and metabolites) within white blood cells. Because it is an intracellular analysis, it takes into account cellular absorption, metabolism and utilization in its evaluation, thus providing a long-term assessment (4-6 months) of micronutrient status. Serum (extracellular) testing, on the other hand, is only a snapshot and does not give valuable information about the functional health of cells.

CARDIOVASCULAR

  • Lipoprotein Particle Profile (LPP Basic / LPP Plus – LPP is an advanced cholesterol analysis that provides you with a much more accurate evaluation of your cardiovascular risk as compared to standard cholesterol testing. In addition to measuring basic levels of total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides, both the LPP Basic and Plus also evaluate other important cardiovascular risk markers. The LPP Plus panel is more comprehensive and includes additional cardiovascular and inflammatory markers, such as C-reactive protein and homocysteine.

GENETIC

  • MTHFR - Detects if you have genetic mutations in the MTHFR gene, which can cause methylation impairment. Mutations can affect the metabolism and conversion of nutrients into the active forms of vitamins, minerals and proteins. And, mutations can impact detoxification, increase your risk of various health conditions and alter neurotransmitter and hormone levels. Knowing your genetics provides you with a greater understanding of possible health risks so that you can take effective measures to optimize your health.
