# Watermelon Salsa

As the summer heats up and the 4th of July approaches, it's the perfect time to enjoy refreshing, healthy dishes that can be easily shared at cookouts and gatherings. Watermelon, a quintessential summer fruit, is a fantastic choice for such occasions. Not only is it hydrating and delicious, but it also adds vibrant color and nutrition to any dish.

## Watermelon Salsa Recipe

### Ingredients:

-   3 cups watermelon, diced
-   1 cup cucumber, diced
-   1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
-   1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
-   1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
-   1-2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped (optional, for a spicy kick)
-   Juice of 2 limes
-   Salt and pepper to taste

### Instructions:

1.  **Prepare the Ingredients:** Dice the watermelon, cucumber, red bell pepper, and red onion. Finely chop the fresh cilantro and jalapeño peppers.
2.  **Combine in a Bowl:** In a large mixing bowl, combine the watermelon, cucumber, red bell pepper, red onion, cilantro, and jalapeños.
3.  **Add Lime Juice:** Squeeze the juice of two limes over the mixture.
4.  **Season:** Add salt and pepper to taste.
5.  **Mix Gently:** Gently toss all ingredients until well combined.
6.  **Chill and Serve:** Refrigerate the salsa for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld. Serve chilled with whole-grain tortilla chips or as a topping for grilled fish or chicken.
